Blue hour begins shortly after sunset, when there is still light in the sky while Amsterdam’s street lamps, bridges and canal houses begin to glow. For a short period of time, deep blue skies, warm city lights and reflections across the canals all come together.
It’s a different side of Amsterdam often overlooked: the city deepens into richer tones, the light softens, and familiar streets take on a cinematic and dream-like character.
Your photographer will plan the route around the shifting light, guiding you through carefully chosen canal settings as each one reaches its most beautiful moment.
With blue hour lasting only around 30 minutes, we offer just one blue hour photoshoot each evening, keeping the experience exclusive and unhurried.

Our favourite setting for blue hour. The open waterfront gives us a wide view of the deep blue evening sky, framed by Amsterdam’s illuminated dancing houses and passing boats in the distance. Calm, spacious and relatively quiet, the scene has a touch of Van Gogh in its deep blues and warm city lights.
Best for: Those who prefer a calm, intimate setting over a busy city backdrop.
Set along the Amstel, this route pairs blue-hour views with the illuminated Magere Brug, distant canal houses and intimate canal scenery. Known as one of Amsterdam’s most romantic bridges, it brings a softer, more intimate mood to the evening.
